Owning Who You Are

There comes a point when self-discovery asks something more of us.

It’s one thing to recognize what matters to you, to notice the patterns that have shaped you, or to reconnect with parts of yourself that have been quiet for a while. It’s another thing to own what you find.

To give your preferences, ideas, desires, strengths, quirks, boundaries, creativity, and convictions a little more room in the world.

That doesn’t require becoming louder, bolder, or more rebellious by someone else’s definition. Your rebellion might be exuberant and impossible to miss. It might be quiet, steady, playful, unconventional, tender—or entirely your own.

The Gentle Rebel is an invitation to grab hold of more of who you are and let yourself inhabit it.

To experiment with stepping into the space you have defined. To feel what happens when you stop editing quite so quickly. To trust what you know. To express something because it feels true. To discover what your version of a rebel looks and feels like.

Not a new persona to become.

More of you to own.

How The Night Unfolds

An Evening of Expression, Self-Trust & Gentle Rebellion

The Gentle Rebel moves from recognizing what feels true to experimenting with what it feels like to stand behind it, move with it, and give it expression.

Through yoga philosophy, somatic awareness, movement, reflection, and creative exploration, we’ll play with the space between knowing who you are and fully owning it.

Arrive

We’ll begin by grounding in what is true right now, noticing your body, energy, attention, and whatever you’re bringing with you into the evening.

Claim

Through reflection and conversation, we’ll explore what deserves more space in your life. A quality, desire, strength, truth, way of expressing yourself, or perhaps something harder to name.

We’ll introduce satya, the yogic practice of truthfulness, alongside samskaras, the grooves and patterns that can influence how freely we express what we know to be true.

Embody

Then we’ll take the exploration into the body.

Through more energetic movement, familiar yoga shapes, unfamiliar variations, strength, choice, and a little experimentation, you’ll have opportunities to notice what changes when you step into the space you have defined.

Own

Using what you noticed through movement, you’ll begin creating your Rebel Card, a personal expression of the qualities, truths, and convictions you want to own more fully.

You’ll also identify a samskara you’re ready to loosen; an old groove you no longer need to keep rehearsing.

Integrate

We’ll shift from expression into stillness with a short restorative practice, giving your experience time to settle across the layers of the koshas—body, energy, mind, inner knowing, and deeper sense of self.

We’ll close by returning to your Rebel Card and choosing one act of gentle rebellion to carry into the week ahead.

What Guides The Gentle Rebel

The Gentle Rebel draws from ideas in yoga philosophy, embodiment, and creative expression that we’ll encounter during our evening together. If you’re curious, these articles offer a little background before we meet:

Who Gets to Decide Who You Are?
An exploration of the stories and expectations that shape identity—and what can happen when we begin choosing for ourselves.

Saṃskāras: The Impressions That Influence How We Experience the World
How experiences create familiar grooves that can continue to influence how we think, choose, and show up.

Embodied Creativity: Clearing the Path for Expression
How embodiment can create more room for expression, experimentation, and bringing more of yourself into the world.

Optional reading—we’ll explore what we need together during the workshop.

Step Into

As the evening begins to wind down, return to something that has come alive for you.

A truth. A strength. A desire. A quality. A way of being.

What are you ready to stand behind?

Maybe it asks to be expressed more freely. Protected more fiercely. Spoken aloud. Chosen without apology. Or simply trusted.

Take what feels unmistakably yours and imagine what it looks like to give it more room in your choices, relationships, creativity, work, or everyday life.

Bring more of what is distinctly yours into the world.

What Inspired The Gentle Rebel

The Gentle Rebel grew from a question that comes up again and again in my work—and in my own life:

What happens after you begin to know yourself more clearly?

There is value in understanding the stories that shaped us, noticing familiar patterns, listening inward, and deciding what matters. But eventually, knowing asks something of us. We have to step into the space we’ve defined.

For me, that doesn’t mean becoming fearless, louder, or rebellious for the sake of rebellion. It means trusting what I know, expressing more of what feels true, making choices I can stand behind, and allowing myself to be fully, unmistakably myself.

The Gentle Rebel grew from that possibility: that knowing who you are can become something you practice, express, and live.
